Summary of the meeting: (not a word-for-word transcription)

From Mark Abling, Assistant Principal:
  • A website honoring our seniors will go live on what would have been graduation day: May 14. The site is geared toward students with messages and quotes from staff and a photo slideshow.
  • Senior check out is May 19 (date change as of May 11) from 9-3. We are finalizing details. Students will receive their caps/gown and diploma and must return their chromebook and textbooks and pay any fines. (Details available here).
  • Graduation is now planned for Aug. 6 and 9:00 am at the NAAC. Students and parents were sent a document they can print to update their graduation announcements. Jostens has a local number that is less busy than the national, 1-800 number: 303-341-4269
From Jasmine Silverman, Assistant Principal

  • Summer school will be online from May 26-June 5. The last day to register is May 25, the cost is $125 per 1/2-credit course. More information here.

From Jeremy Jensen, Assistant Principal

  • Grading policy: there are 3 levels of engagement. Students who are fully engaged in remote learning can only improve on their grade. There will be no "Fs" on transcripts. Student who don't meet requirements will receive an "NC" (No Credit). More information here.
  • The state is working with College Board on a plan for SAT testing. It will probably be rescheduled in the fall. More information will be coming soon.
From Meg Parry, Capstone Coordinator
  • We have not received any information from the district or state about changing our Capstone program so right now we are proceeding with the same plan. We are moving forward assuming that a Capstone project will still be an option to meet the new graduation requirements and that the Class of 2021 will present Capstone Portfolio defense next spring.

From Gina Yacovetta, Principal

  • Question about failing a class - Student can keep working to pass classes until May 21. F grades will not appear on transcripts but will be converted to "No Credit" so you will not get credit for the class, but the grade will not affect your GPA.

  • Next semester we will offer some kind of Boot Camp for students to catch up on classes for which they did not receive credit. Seniors have until May 21 to pass their classes.
  • Staff appreciation week - please thank a teacher or staff member.
    • Values award for staff
    • Exemplary performance - Cory Goshorn (Band)
    • Integrity - Art Dwyer (Freshman Success Center)
    • Team Work - Taylor Maunu (Restorative Justice)

Questions and Answers
  • How to get parent access to Echo - contact [email protected]
  • Will there be a football season? Don't know right now. Our goal is to have fall athletics. Seasons could be shortened
  • Yearbook refunds for seniors? If we get more donations than we need that might be possible. We have to see how many donations we get.
  • Returning chromebooks? Seniors return them at checkout on May 19 (date change as of May 11). Grades 9-11 keep chromebooks over the summer. Students not returning to AHS need to return their chromebook May 21. Mr. Abling can provide a number to get chromebooks repaired.
  • Deadline for donating a yearbook? May 15. See our FB page or email Mr. Abling ([email protected]) if you need instructions for donating.
  • Drop a class? There is a form to request a "No Credit" mark for a class.
  • Capstone projects for grades 9-11? Still having Capstone class once a week. The Community Service requirement is currently paused although some students are proceeding independently. We intend to have the same requirement and are figuring out how to manage that.
  • Staff Appreciation - we will draw names everyday to receive gift cards. Teachers would love to get emails from students or parents expressing appreciation.
